New members are charged a one-time $100 enrollment fee. This fee allows us to obtain and review outside records before each patient’s first appointment with Dr. Sarah Florence. This process enhances our ability to provide our patients with comprehensive and personalized care from the start.

What is DPC?

Direct Primary Care, or DPC, is an affordable and transparent model of healthcare that puts patients first by removing the red tape of medical insurance and medical administrators from the patient-physician relationship. This way, care can be tailored to each patient’s individualized needs.

In DPC, your doctor won’t bill your insurance or require co-pays. Your membership gives you access to your doctor when you need it without additional costs. Come in as often as you need, and have all of your concerns addressed on your terms.

What sets Sojourn Family Medicine apart?

In the mainstream fee for service model, bureaucratic demands and restrictions have complicated the system.

At Sojourn Family Medicine, we’ve eliminated the incentive for your doctor to herd patients through the clinic like cattle, and we’ve restored the ability for your doctor to provide patient centered high quality care.

At Sojourn Family Medicine, your healthcare is once again made accessible, convenient, and affordable.

Instead of waiting 6-12 weeks (or more!) to get into your doctor, we pride ourselves on getting you in same or next business day when you need it. Even more, we have the freedom to provide virtual care – if appropriate and safe – when you need it.

You picked your doctor for a reason. That’s why at Sojourn Family Medicine, your doctor is who you’ll see – every time.

At a direct primary care office like Sojourn Family Medicine, rather than a 7-minute rushed visit, we prefer extended visits. We believe that quality of care is directly proportional to the time we have to spend with our patients. Plus, we like to spend time with our patients!

Instead of asking patients to pick one or two problems to discuss at any given visit, we ask our patients to bring a list of all of their concerns so that we can address them all.

Without the pressures of insurance and administrative quality metrics, your care is tailored to your goals, not theirs.

Rather than surprise bills or copays, your membership covers your doctor’s time and services. Any pass-through fees for labs, pathology, or medical supplies are made known to our patients ahead of time.

I have insurance. Can I still be a member?

Absolutely! Actually, the vast majority of our patients are insured. We can send all labs, prescriptions, diagnostic studies, and any subspecialist consults through insurance. For those who prefer cash-pay prices (which are often much cheaper), our patients are welcome to use those as well! Dr. Florence has worked to get our patients the most affordable options out there.

I have insurance. Why should I be a member?

Because everyone should have access to high quality, convenient, comprehensive, compassionate, personalized, affordable, and transparent care.

Just as you wouldn’t use your auto insurance to get an oil change, you shouldn’t have to use your medical insurance to receive excellent medical care.

What happens if I go to the hospital or need to see a specialist?

At Sojourn Family Medicine, our style of practice maximizes our ability to keep patients out of the hospital.

Of course, there are still situations in which an ER visit or hospitalization is necessary. In those cases, our hope is that our patients have medical insurance or a health share to financially lean on. Meanwhile, our patients can feel comforted knowing that their doctor will follow and advocate for them while in the hospital.

We offer a free meet and greet consultation to all prospective members. This way, you can get to know Dr. Sarah Florence and our team and ask us any other questions before deciding if membership is right for you!
